Wessington Cryogenics Ltd has started the year with a good news story. Dispelling the gloom and doom of last years economic down turn they have just completed a move to a smart new manufacturing facility just a stones throw from their former base in Houghton le Spring.
Wessington Cryogenics designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of cryogenic storage vessels including ISO tank containers for the oil and gas, bio-medical and science and research sectors.
Employing around 90 people, the company also produces and maintains nitrogen, argon, oxygen and helium vessels, which, like all of its products, are exported to countries across the globe.
Although sales of the traditional product range have held firm despite the uncertainties which most manufacturing companies experienced over the last 18 months, the Company felt that economic recession was no time to be over cautious or complacent and were keen to press ahead with plans for future product development and the new premises will afford them the additional space and quality facilities to do just that.
Paul Rowe, Managing Director, said: “We are very confident of the commercial opportunities which are open to our business to diversity both in terms of products and market sectors and we believe that companies who can be agile and show this flexibility are better placed to weather the tough times ,which we all sometimes face, particularly when competing globally to win business. We have created a strong business through quality products, market knowledge and exceptional people but we are excited to move into this premium manufacturing facility at Rainton Bridge South, Houghton le Spring which will afford us an additional 20,000 sq ft of manufacturing and office space and even in some cases a semi-clean room environment to develop new products which demand that level of hygiene.”
The response from customers of Wessington has been very encouraging and this has had a very positive effect on orders. The Company have engaged consultants to advise on optimal layouts for production in line with the Company’s commitment to continuous improvement across all areas.
The future looks rosy according to Paul Rowe, Managing Director, who said: “We are excited to show visitors and clients of Wessington, from all around the world, the new facility. We are particularly looking forward to the open day in March when my wife and I will sky dive in carrying with us the corporate flags which we will be proud to raise and hopefully mark the start of the next stage in Wessington’s journey. Lets hope its a very successful one for both our company, our valued customers and our employees”.
