VINCI Construction UK Ltd. is a subsidiary of VINCI SA, the world class construction and concessions company. VINCI SA has a turnover of around €35m and operates in a vast number of countries and offers a large number of various engineering and construction disciplines.

In the UK, VINCI also offers a multidisciplinary portfolio of work – ranging from the construction of schools and hospitals, airport works, large retail developments and facilities management, as well as more traditional civil engineering projects. Within civil engineering VINCI is split into two sectors these being Transportation and Energy.

Transportation focusses on rail and highways, with a large percentage if its turnover coming from rail projects within the M25 – such as projects association to Crossrail and with London Underground. Outside of the M25 one of the largest schemes within Transportation currently on the go is NET 2 – the second phase of the Nottingham Tram project.

The Energy sector focusses on specific growth areas. We are working within the EFW market where we are preferred bidder on a number of schemes throughout the county, and we are just beginning a project with Helius in the Bristol area. Within nuclear decommissioning we are heavily influenced by Sellafield, where we have been working for in the region of 5 years now. We have recently set up a JV with our sister company Nuvia to expand our offering at Sellafield. We are also working with Magnox in Bradwell. We are hoping to progress into the nuclear new build market in the UK, utilising on our French expertise, as and when the next opportunity arises.

In 2011 we set up the joint venture – VINCI Offshore Wind UK. Comprising the VINCI group companies VINCI Construction UK Ltd, VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Freyssinet – we have a specific concrete gravity base foundation solution which we are introducing into the market place in readiness for Round 3 and the Scottish Territorial waters. With the backing of the Carbon Trust we are in the process of developing this unique and innovative solution from concept through to demonstration and ultimately as a proven solution for the developers in the Offshore Wind sector.  We see a positive outlook for renewables in the UK and offshore wind in particular forming a key role in the production of future energy for the UK.
